Firstview Farm

Matt is our 12-year-old Husky mix farm dog.  He was found on a Chatham County roadside with his brother Bear, who went to another family, when he was just a few months old.  We took him in as a little ball of black fluff and he has lived at Firstview Farm ever since.  Matt adores snow and cold weather as well as running a very long way, like a true Husky.  He also likes going to dog walks for the local rescue groups and following us around on rides through the fields.

Fiona is the newest addition to the Firstview Farm pet community.  She was adopted from the Durham Animal Protection Society in July 2011 and will soon be reaching her first birthday.  She is very friendly and eager to learn and play.  One of her favorite daily activities is galloping around the arena with her honorary big brother Matt each morning before tiring and taking a nap on her much loved sand pile.  Fiona has behaved fantastically around all manners of farm life and has fit in fast.     

Smeaches is a 3-year-old barn cat who we named for her color -- part smoke and part peach.  Smeaches appeared at the bottom of one of our pastures one day when she was just a kitten.  She slowly learned to trust us and started coming up to the barn for food, where she became friends with our old cat, Paint.  She is still slightly timid but much more friendly.

 Alexandria, aka Alex, was brought to us with her brother Romeo from a friend who had to rehome them.  Alex loves people and is a great cat. She is very playful and will play with toys, people, and Romeo.  Alex likes curling up in her chair, but someone's arms are even better.

Romeo, Alex's 2-year-old brother, became great friends with Smeaches quickly.  He is very brave cat who likes Matt and all the horses.  He also likes people, but not as much as Alex, for he prefers sleeping in the middle of the barn aisle, undisturbed.  He can also be spotted stalking prey in the fields, thinking he is a lion.
